#255 Tall Girl Problems

A friend forwarded me a link to a website titled, “Tall Girl Problems.” It's actually pretty funny and I've experienced all of the "problems" I've read so far. However, after thinking more about this site, I started to feel sad that this girl is keeping a long list of problems and focusing on the negative. I realize that it is is done mostly in fun but after living 43 years as a super tall person, I think the positive definitely outnumbers the negative. Some of my Tall Girl Advantages:

*Having a great view of fights in high school.
*I can always find people in a large group. Well, they can always find ME in a large group.
*Fashion magazines always talk about what to do to make your legs appear longer. What do I have to do? NOTHING.
*I can reach anything, anywhere.

I barely have time for this blog but it would be fun to start another one and solicit more positive things from other tall girls. Tall girls unite!! Stand up straight and be proud!

  1. I so much agree with you!!! There is too much negativity and I'm a positive person at heart. Here are some of mine

° little kids are fascinated by you

° people will talk to you even if you are basically shy

° changing a conversation or proactively starting something different makes you sharper

° on long car trips with friends you almost always are given the seat with the best leg room

° almost every woman is envious of your legs (you mention it, but I get it *all* the time:-)

° you make vain guys really self conscious

° your height weeds out the undesirable insecure guys right away

  3. Well I've always hated being a tall girl. It's lonely up here! But, positive mmmmmm if I shrunk tomorrow I'd be fat & never be able to eat bread again. So that's positive. Oh, and I can't wear heels(which has often made me cry) but after watching my short friend hobble around in them last week I'm not complaing that's positive!I was just fine in my flats, as usual. I don't date but (here comes the positive).... Guys are smelly, hard to clean after, and selfish. You can get a german shepard for that.

  4. There are no advantages to being tall & female! A. Nobody thinks we are as of short men couldn't be transvestites? The fact that we can't find a man is very hard! Do you think doctors should stop our growth? Just wondering?

  7. I am postnng here in hopes that what I have to say will be published. My problem is this: I love women, they are my best friends, and I especially love tall women. I have never found a place on the internet to discuss vaid issues that tall women have. Believe it, there are some men in the world who share your feelings about your probems. Not all of us look to your height as a matter of comedy.

I have so much to share, because in some respect, we share the same problems.

I am hoping I will be allowed to post again. Scott House, scothouse111@gmail.com

  8. I wondered what you think of estrogen therapy to make girls not grow so tall? I've a lways wished I could go back in time and help myself. Sometimes tall women seem offended that I feel this way. Just respectfully asking your opinion.

  9. When I was around 13 or so I remember going to a doctor with my parents and discussing my height and what I wanted to do about it. An option was to take medication (it may have been estrogen, I don't remember) to make me stop growing. There was no pressure from anyone, just us getting information. I made the decision to not do anything, to let God have me grow as tall as He wanted. If others are uncomfortable with being so tall, then that is their choice to do something about it and no one should judget their choice. They are the ones that have to live in their body. It wasn't always easy, but I don't regret my decision.

  11. I'm a short guy

but I think it's cool when a woman is tall...you can be soft and feminine, but your body just kept getting stronger and stronger while other women stayed shorter/weaker...that must have felt awesome...so while you are cute and pretty, you are able to do things that usually only guys are able to do, because your body's so strong...that's Hot

  14. I was 5 ft at ten, 5'5 at twelve and 5'7 at fifteen. Seeing taller women was of little consolation since I was still growing. I am now 5'9 at 26 and see my height as an asset for the following reasons: *being tall makes you look slimmer than your shorter friends with the same vital statistics.* Beauty queens and models have to be tall. *Short women (especially those with much taller husbands) are likelier to have childbirth complications. Besides,it is no fun having to bend double or climb a chair to kiss your partner. Thus, tall ladies are specially made for tall men.* You don't need high heels and so have healthier legs.

  15. Using estrogen to stop growth may have unforeseen side effects. Reduce your protein intake if you are still growing and let things unfold naturally. Above all, love yourself and your height.

  16. I hit 6' in 6th grade and that was a little awkward! However, being tall gets better as you get older. Have great posture, keep your shoulders back, wear heels if you want to and just smile!
    It is what it is!!!!!!
Your own attitude is what makes it great!

  17. I think being tall is great! I (like all tall women) have my own #tallgirlproblems, but really the positives far outweigh the negatives :)

  19. To Alisa who posted August 27 - God made each of us the way we are for a reason. I'm sure you don't look like a spider! Plus, there are several models that I've read about who said they were very tall and thin when they were younger and were made fun of all the time, and look at them now. I also read about one of the Olympic runners who said she was called chicken legs - now she has a gold medal! We all go through an "awkward" phase in our lives. Keep your shoulders back, keep smiling, and it will get better.
