Some of you may remember that I joined eHarmony during the entire year of 2010(see Posts #76 and 77). I vowed to never do online dating again after that experience. Well, I had a moment of weakness and after seeing several cute, tall men on Christian Mingle I joined for three months. My subscription ironically ends today, the day before Valentine's Day. I feel a sort of liberation in marking this momentous event with a national holiday.
The Good - Overall, I give this site high marks. You can search on this site and they also send you matches, so you get the best of both worlds. The cost is also fairly reasonable.
The Bad - I didn't really find anything bad about this site. It's easy to use and there seem to be people who are more serious about finding a relationship rather than just hooking up. I sent messages to several guys throughout the three months. I met one (one and done), corresponded with a few and am still corresponding with one who lives out of state. I'm not sorry I did it, but have vowed, once again, to never do online dating again. I mean it this time!
The Ugly - to anyone (male or female) who does online dating, make sure you research the person thoroughly online before you meet them. This will save you much angst later on.
Good luck to all you single people out there!
I don't know if this will be interesting to you. I gave up on online dating for several reasons. A friend sent a link to an academic paper that looks into how effective they are and how they work. It reads easily and I found it fascinating. I have much better luck the the old fashioned way, but I don't have really strict standards on height and I'm not quite as tall as you.
