#376 Very Interesting...

Every time I come home from a trip, my mother asks me the same question, “Did you meet anyone interesting?”  Which actually means, “Did you meet any tall, interesting, available men?”  My standard answer is, “I met a lot of interesting people.”  Which actually means, “No.”  I guess we have our own special code language.

I arrived home from a work trip over the weekend and was preparing myself on how to answer this question.  You see, this time I did meet someone interesting.  I won’t go into detail, but it was a tall, interesting man.  (I have no idea if he’s available.)  Do I tell my mother this and get her hopes up, when I think I’ll probably never see him again?  I decided I would.  And then she didn’t ask me!  The one time I do meet someone interesting and she doesn’t ask.  Figures.

Back to the guy.  I already covered tall and interesting.  He’s also nice, funny and very cute.  What’s a girl to do?  Maybe I’ll run into him sometime in the future.  That would be very interesting.

#375 Incredible Shrinking Woman II

In my post “Incredible Shrinking Woman” from November 2011 (# 235), I talked about how I had lost some of my height. Well, it has happened again! Similarly to 2011, I had a health screening at work and was measured at 6’5”. This time I asked the young woman where I was exactly on the scale. She said I was between 6’5” and 6’5 ½” so she rounded down to 6’5”. So between 2011 and now I have shrunk another ½ inch or so. I am slowly compressing!

I also had my BMI checked and she asked my age so she could put it into the hand-held BMI thing. I told her I was 45. I did my BMI and then she asked more questions, including “How old are you again?” Sigh. Do I have to say it again? You’re in your 20s and I have to admit twice to you I’m 45? Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud of my age and am fine with it, but sometimes it is a bit disheartening to hear myself say how old I am in front of the really young.

Ultimately, I’m healthy so that’s all that matters. Shrinkage or not.
